Summary

The primary focus of this position will be to teach Snapology STEAM, Themed, and Robotics programs using LEGO bricks and pre-defined curriculum/lesson plans. Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork and problem solving skills while educating students on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 5-12, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with the Snapology of Lehi owners as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.

Role & Responsibilities

Lead groups of up to 24 students through curriculum-guided activities
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures n accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions
Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs
Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs
Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings as required

Qualifications

Must pass a background check.
A reliable means of transportation with enough cargo space for all teaching materials. All programs are on-site at various locations between South Salt Lake County and Northern Utah County.
Education Degree OR 2 or more years of formal teaching experience with elementary aged children
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

Pay Structure

All of our instructors are paid per shift (class, camp, party, etc) at an hourly rate of $20/hour. We incorporate paid "buffer" times into all our programs to allow instructors time to arrive early and clean up. All training is paid at an hourly rate of $11/hour. We do not pay for travel.

Program Details

All programs are on-site at partner locations throughout Southern Salt Lake County and Northern Utah County (Schools, Rec Centers, Businesses, Community Centers, etc). The frequency and amount of programs can vary based on time of year and class enrollment.

After-School Programs (September – May)

Weekly 1-2 hours classes that occur between 2:30pm–8:00pm Monday-Thursday

Field Trips (September - May)

1-4 hours in length and occur between 9:00am-8:00pm

Summer/Spring Break/Holiday Break Camps (June – December)

1.5-7 hours in length (typically 3 hours per day) and occur between 9am–5pm Monday-Friday

Birthday Parties (All Year)

1-2 hours in length and occur on Friday - Saturday

Compensation: $0.20 per hour
